Total Launcher Layout Guide: How to Add, Organize, and Scale Image Resources

Developing a personalized Android interface relies heavily on incorporating custom graphic elements that define the visual aesthetic of the layout. Managing asset libraries efficiently ensures that backgrounds, interface icons, and decorative elements remain easily accessible during the design process. Within Total Launcher, utilizing the dedicated Image Resource center provides a structured method for importing standalone graphics or batch-uploading entire asset folders from local storage. This technical tutorial outlines the precise procedure for introducing graphic assets into the launcher environment, organizing files by metadata, and positioning the resulting objects onto a designated page layout. The process begins with accessing the layout editing tools from the active workspace.

Applying The Process

This is a basic procedure tailored for an image object contained in or imported into Total Launcher's Image Resources. A similar process can start the addition of

  • Applications
  • Windows
  • Folders
  • Launcher actions (linked to the object)
  • Sequences

but here, images will be selected, in a “Default” form and then followed with using the Image Customization dialog to refine how the image appears or will be used. This will notaddress adding layouts or widgets.

Add An Image FROM Image Resources

  • An image in TL is categorized as a graphic that can either be image- or text-based
  1. Navigate to the page or other object (such as a Window)
  2. Enter Edit Mode (Long press an empty area → Toggle Edit Mode icon) > Tap the ''Edit Off'' icon in the lower right to change it to an ''Edit On'' icon
  3. Tap the Add (+) icon in the Page Design menu (top)
  4. Select Graphic
  5. Select Image
  6. Since this procedure involves an image itself, select Default
  7. An image dialog opens which offers customization features (color, dynamic color or image, shape, or icon pack). Here select Image
  8. The Image Resource dialog opens. It displays thumbnails of any images previously added to this resource category.
    1. There are also specialized categories for image aspect ratios available for devices, such as the “Fold” or images left over from any earlier imported setups. These will not be discussed here.
  9. The alpha-numerical display can be scrolled vertically or searched by filename in the search dialog. The 3-bar menu (hamburger) in the upper-right corner allows sorting by filename, recently edited, or file size.

Add Image(s) TO Image Resources

  • If the image desired does not currently exist in the image resource and a single image is desired:
    1. Tap the Add (+) icon
    2. To add a single image, tap the 3-dot menu and select Browse…
      1. Navigate to the device folder containing the desired image (or cloud folder if the device file manager permits)
      2. Tap the desired image. The image's filename will be retained by TL (there is no way to modify it after importing).
      3. After importing, the image is located by either scrolling the list or entering a filename in the search dialog
  • If the image desired does not currently exist in the image resource and the entire folder is to be added to TL's Image Resource:
    1. If a user has already prepared a device folder with images and desires to import the entire folder into the image resource (filenames to be retained), the resource dialog has a “ Folder+” icon in the top menu bar. This will open the device's file manager to navigate to the desired folder and, upon selection, import the entire folder's contents into the TL resource area.

Add Image To The Page Tor Further Customization

  1. Tap the desired image. It is placed on the page in selected mode.
  2. Tap and hold the image to drag it to the desired position.
  3. Resize the image by its boundary bulbs or briefly tap the image to reveal the Edit (pencil) icon for manually entering the X/Y position or Height/Widget desired numbers.
