All shapes are based on geometry. The arc can be slightly more difficult to understand. An arc is a section of a circle with it's outer boundary being the circumference (curved) and it's 2 straight sides being lines from the end of the circumference to the circle's center. Think of a clock and it's hands … each minute and hour of the day form an arc. Even think of an apple pie being sliced … and hopefully it's in a round dish!

  • Start Angle - The user will enter a number here or use the sliding scale but this visual does not provide for that. The measurement represents degrees with a range of 0-359 to go “full circle”. The default is 0, the starting point of the arc at its circumference. In terms of a clock, 0 = noon; 90 = 3; 180 = 6; and 270 = 9.
  • Sweep Angle - The user will enter a number here or use the sliding scale but this visual does not provide for that. This number represents the degrees with which the sides meet: 90 is called perpendicular or 180 is a straight line (in arcs, that makes it a semi-circle with a straight line going through the center).
  • Cancel - void any input and return to the previous screen
  • OK - activate any input and return to the previous screen
