Adding an Application Shortcut & Replacing Objects

Page layouts often require object/icons locations to be flexible. The launcher's “Layout” object offers a more rigid format. An Application shortcut offers a flexible location while linking to an application. This procedure demonstrates adding these to the workspace, positioning, and removing unwanted objects to customize the page layout.

Adding the Application Shortcut

  1. In Edit Mode On select the Add icon Widgets]] for a complete review.
    * **Graphic** - objects which can be graphic (image) or text (static or variable)
  - For this demo, a graphic image is selected.
  - From the Action dialog lists the activities available
    * This action method defaults to a "Tap" action. Other activation methods (swipes) can later be chosen by directly accessing the Action icon {{ui:ui-icon_action.webp?direct&25 in the Object Design menu.
  2. An Application dialog then lists all applications on the device. Scroll through the list or use the search bar to locate the target application.
  3. The object (shortcut) is placed on the page containing the icon of the selected application.
    1. Note that the application is placed on the page in a selected state (object boundaries are highlighted).
  4. Drag the new shortcut to the desired location on the page.
  5. Optional: Resizing the shortcut object is possible by dragging the handles located on the corners of the bounding box.

Removing an Existing Object

To delete an object:

  1. Select the object to be removed by tapping it once or “tap & hold”
  2. From the Object Design menu select the Delete icon .
  3. The launcher's Confirm dialog appears. Tap OK.
  4. The object is removed from the workspace, leaving the space available for other design objects.
